Course summary

This qualification is appropriate for an apprentice tradesperson working in the rigging sector. Competencies covered may include work safely around power sources, services and assets, perform rigging (basic and intermediate), operate a truck mounted loading crane, perform advanced tilt slab erection, and operate personnel and materials hoists.
There is Basic, Intermediate and Advanced training assessment levels available for this course.

This course ensures participants with the relevant competencies required to erect and install steel structures, dismantle structual steel and move plant and equipment using a range of rigging techniques, load distribution and safe work procedures required by relevant regulations and legislations. Participants will be gaining knowledge, both in theory and practical style in:
- Steel erection
- Safety line systems
- Cantilevered crane loading platforms
- Handling pre-cast concrete
- Erection of hoists and mast climbers
- Flexible steel wire rope
- Industry safety nets
- OH&S requirements

Dogging is a pre-requisite for this course.

Career possibilities

Successful completion of this qualification will permit persons working with the commercial sector of the industry, to erect steel frame structures, tilt slab construction. Work in this field is a licensed occupation.

Intermediate Rigging

- Log book minimum hours: 120 hours

Advanced Rigging
- 2 training days
- 1 access day
- Log book minimum hours: 180 hours
